LIST OF COMPOSTABLE ITEMS

Our mission is to have everyone in the community collect organic kitchen food waste in the paper bag initially provided and drop off your filled compost bag on our doorstep conveniently located at:

151 Dalton Drive, Oviedo, FL 32765

List of compostable items:

  • Vegetable and fruit clippings, decayed, spoiled or organic waste
  • Stale bread and stale crackers
  • Old, cooked rice, beans and lentils
  • Egg shells and nut shells
  • Used coffee grounds, used coffee filters and used tea bags
  • Used paper napkins, paper towels and paper bags
  • Seedless weeds such as dandilions, dollar weed and clover
  • Wood chips and sawdust

List of non-compostable items:

  • Milk, eggs, butter, cheese, meat, seafood, fish, oil or cooked potatoes or peels

Please see diagram on this page detailing on what you can compost and what you can't.  You'll save money on trash bags which means less organic kitchen food waste bound for landfills.

Wood chips and sawdust waste must be donated in a separate, biodegradable bag so it does not mix with the food waste.

Composting program goals

80% of food in America is wasted between farm to table mostly due to food spoiling in the refrigerator. This food waste needs to be intercepted and composted naturally on the surface of the earth instead of taking up space in our garbage cans headed for a local landfill emitting more greenhouse gases into the air.

By using the donated paper compost bags, we'll create organic soil allowing us to supply and grow permaculture food gardens that benefit our beloved pollinators and vital garden creatures.

Bartering is a lost art and it's a great way to acquire goods and services from neighbors in the community. Contact us if you have any unharvested produce so we can pick it up, turn it into homemade jelly or marmalade and/or use it as a donation to prevent a neighbor from starving.
